Carrot Curls

Picture
When you're craving chips, carrot curls are a satisfying, crunchy substitute. They're fun to make and taste great.

Homemade SCD Yogurt

Picture
You will use this yogurt every day! It's a wonderful basic food for the SCDiet and is not difficult to make. See my YouTube video above where I show you how I make it.

Erin shows how she makes her homemade SCD yogurt. She bought the jars at DigestiveWellness.com.

Chef and author Bryant Terry shows
how to make almond milk.

After blending almonds, pour into a bowl. Wash blender container, line with nut milk bag, above, then pour almond mixture back into bag to strain. Pour into pitcher or beverage decanter.

Apple Pie Treat

Picture
Enjoy this for breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a snack. Put it over yogurt or top it with nuts or almond flour lightly browned in butter and a little honey. It's easy and delicious.

Coconut Almond Biscotti

Picture
Enjoy dipping these deliciously dense Italian cookies in your tea! Coconut flour should be enjoyed after you've been on the diet for at least 3 months or until symptoms have subsided.

Easy Sandwich Bread

Picture
My husband created this yummy recipe for fluffy, easy sandwich bread. I tried it and immediately wanted to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich using legal peanut butter and homemade jam. Then I made a peanut butter and honey one... Just like the good ol' days! It's also great for a grilled cheese sandwich!

Quick Cheese Crackers

Picture
Enjoy with homemade salsa or guacamole or top with meat and cheese for a hearty snack.

Cheese Lace Crackers

Picture
These crunchy crackers are fast to make and taste even better than Cheeze-It crackers. They are perfect to take along in your lunch or as a quick snack after school. Make guacamole or salsa to go with them for a wonderful party treat. Break into pieces on top of a Caesar Salad for the tastiest croutons you've ever eaten!

Pickled Eggs

Picture
Pickled eggs are perfect picnic fare, making a nice change from potato salad. They're great for campers because they do not require refrigeration once they've been prepared. They are preserved by the vinegar and are a great way to use up extra Easter Eggs.

"Popcorn" Pecans

Picture
I love to sit with a bowl of these delicious pecans while watching a movie!
Recipe: 1 c. pecans, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 Tbs. real butter. Preheat oven to 310 degrees. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium. Add pecans and stir constantly for 3-5 minutes, being careful not to burn them! Pour onto a cookie sheet. Salt. Bake for 5 minutes, stir; bake 3 more minutes. Allow to cool slightly. Yum.

Berry Smoothies

Picture
I drink a smoothie almost every morning for breakfast, varying the fruit. It's a delicious, easy way to start the day!

Honey Nut Spread

Picture
"Pooh Bear's Delight"

Eat it with a spoon! Use it to spread on apples, pieces of Easy Sandwich Bread or anything else that sounds good! A jar of this for Christmas would make a lovely gift for your friends!

Pineapple Cooler

Picture
Try this easy and refreshing drink on your next lazy Saturday. The recipe is adapted from "Sunset Recipe Annual, 1988 Edition."

Stuffed Dates

Picture
Fresh California Dates are what we call "God's Candy!" They make a beautiful presentation at a tea and are also a wonderful snack to take along since they don't need to be refrigerated.

Scraper is to remove
burned-on milk. :-)

Chai

Picture
Use this basic Chai recipe,  as a starting point, then alter it to suit your preferences. You might add black peppercorns, vanilla bean seeds, or anise seeds, for instance.

Fresh Cherry Smoothie

Picture
Try this delicious smoothie for breakfast or as a substantial dessert. Use frozen cherries so you can make it any time of year.

Yogurt Mint Cooler

Picture
Accompany a summer barbecue with this savory yogurt and mint drink to sip during the meal. "Sunset Recipe Annual, 1988 Ed." provides the Indian style recipe.

Caramel Candy

Picture
This is rich and wonderful nut candy that you'll enjoy sharing with the whole family! Crunchy and delicious right out of the freezer!

Make Ahead Spiced Cider

Picture
Welcome guests to your home with an inviting warm apple cider beverage from Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2008. Steep the cider a day ahead, keep it refrigerated, and then reheat just before serving.
